We're Glad You're Here
If you are feeling scared, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you cannot stop binging on food, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you eat because you are angry, lonely, tired, or for any reason other than hunger, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you are ashamed of your body shape, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you have tried to diet, only to regain the lost weight and then some, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you have tried to control your weight by using laxatives or vomiting, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you have tried to control your weight through excessive exercising, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you feel you are not good enough, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you think you're the only person who ever used food the way you do, you're not alone; we've been there.
If you think that life would be perfect if only you had a better body, you're not alone; we've been there.
Is OA for You?
OA may be the answer for you if you find yourself answering "yes" to any of the following questions:
Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Do you go on eating binges for no apparent reason?
Do you bargain with yourself to eat just one more bite, only to find you cannot stop?
Do you feel guilt or shame after eating?
Do you eat in private because you are embarrassed?
What to Expect
Meetings are the heart of our recovery community. In a typical meeting, members share their stories of what they were like, what happened, and what they are like now. You will hear about the 12 Steps and the 9 Tools of Recovery, which we use to find physical, emotional, and spiritual abstinence. The most important thing to know is that you are never required to speak or sign in; you can simply listen. You will find people who understand your struggle and who have found a way to live free from the obsession with food. You are not alone, and help is available.
